Besides giving the US's moral and financial leadership away, it's only a matter of time until we have difficulty keeping up militarily, primarily because of economic morass and the increasing relative strength of individual countries and the cumulative strength of "others" who don't share our increasinly isolated position.
Al Qaeda loves Bush. Because they know he's willing to financially bleed us to death and diminish our world authority. As we watch the European Union increasingly tell us how to conduct business and watch as the dollar threatens to diminish as the world's reserve currency, it's great see the Republican band playing as Bush's Titanic sinks.

As usual you ride in tandem with your wife and miss the point. The JOKE is that these guys still talk about LaSalle and Elder - despite the fact they have more than one college degree. The rest of us sit back and gape at their small worlds, and they sit with each other and reinforce their unithought.
The rest of us are forced to listen to it, which one day prompted the following IM chat mocking the exchange:

Despite your extensive travels, I've seen nothing out of you excepta lot of mocking of the rest of the world and an occasional cartoon that's supposed to make some sort of point but doesn't.
I've become accustomed to your Cheviot view of the world, so maybe it's time you walk the walk and take off the blinders and act like you've been somewhere else.
(And since you didn't think it through, I talk with the investment firms every day. Their reps and analysts typically go to the top schools and are top flight people. I have conversations with people who get published in the Wall Street Journal.)
